Hello, I’m a retired secondary school teacher and a native Beijinger with over thirty years of experience in teaching Chinese language and managing schools. I’m passionate about helping learners develop their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in a balanced and enjoyable way. My teaching covers everything from Chinese characters, vocabulary, and sentence structure to grammar, rhetoric, logic, and literary appreciation. Understanding that every student learns differently, I create a relaxed, engaging, and supportive environment that encourages confidence and curiosity. My students often describe me as enthusiastic, friendly, and patient.
Back in 2012, while pursuing my master’s degree in Canada, I had the wonderful experience of staying with a homestay family. My host warmly welcomed me into her home and introduced me to local culture and traditions, while I had great fun spending time with her two children. That experience not only improved my English but also deepened my appreciation of cultural exchange. Now, I’m delighted to offer the same kind of hospitality, welcoming students from around the world to Beijing and helping them improve their Chinese and experience authentic local life.
My husband, who is also a teacher, fully supports my passion. Our daughter has grown up and is independent, so it’s just the two of us at home. In my free time, I enjoy reading, cooking, travelling, paper cutting, and practising Ba Duan Jin, a traditional form of qigong for health and balance. I look forward to meeting you in Beijing!
I live on the fourth floor of a six-storey building, in a 120 square meters flat. The home features three bedrooms, two living rooms, and two bathrooms. The main living room faces south and opens onto a balcony, bathing the space in natural light. It’s about 30 square metres which is furnished with a sofa, coffee table, television, and dining table, perfect for relaxing or socialising. The kitchen is well-equipped with essential cooking utensils, and there is a private bathroom for guests to use. The cosy guest room is around 12 square metres. It features a single bed, a bedside cabinet, a desk, and a bookshelf. The bookshelf holds a curated selection of literature, cultural studies, history, and educational texts, which guests are warmly invited to explore at their leisure.

My home is in a traditional residential area in Fangshan District, offering a comfortable environment with well-designed landscaping. Daily essentials are easily accessible, with Hua Guan and Dian Dian supermarkets located within the area, and larger shopping centres like Hua Guan Shopping Centre and Longhu Tianjie within easy reach. Transport is convenient, the Fangshan Line metro station is 1.9 km away, connecting to Liangxiang University Town and Guogong Zhuang, where transfers to Line 9 lead to central Beijing destinations like Beijing West Railway Station and the National Library. Several bus routes (616, 901, F1 Inner/Outer Loop) also serve the area, making it convenient for guests to explore the city.
