About Me

Hello, I’m Teacher Liu. Before becoming a teacher of Chinese as a foreign language, I worked for seven years at Motorola’s Xi’an branch and spent fifteen years in international trade at an import-export company. This background gives me deeper insights and practical experience when teaching business Chinese. For students starting from scratch or at beginner level, I can supplement explanations in English when necessary, followed by slow-paced Chinese demonstrations to help you take that first step with ease.

Beyond language learning, I’m delighted to share insights into my hometown and its culinary delights. Did you know that over a thousand years ago, my hometown, then known as Chang’an, was the world’s most populous and vibrant international metropolis, rivalling modern-day New York and Paris? Therefore, our lessons needn’t be confined to the home; they can take place in any corner of this ancient city. Let’s explore its historic sights, sample its diverse street food, and enjoy learning Chinese together.

In my free time, I enjoy fitness, practising Tai Chi, sketching, oil painting, studying history, and travelling. If these interests resonate with you, we can explore them together! I look forward to embarking on this fascinating journey of Chinese language and culture with you!
