Hi, I’m June from Beijing, China. I’ve spent decades working with both Chinese and U.S. companies, gaining a wealth of knowledge about business language and culture. I’m also a certified TCFL teacher and have been joyfully volunteering my time to teach Mandarin.
Having travelled to more than thirty countries, I’ve developed a deeper appreciation for China’s architecture, cuisine, history, customs, and art. I’m passionate about food and love discovering hidden gems, whether it’s a restaurant tucked inside a centuries-old temple or a soup crafted from a hundred-year-old recipe. I delight in pairing wine with China’s many regional cuisines, and I savour the quiet pleasure of good tea. There’s nothing quite like sipping a ceremonial cup of Pu’er on a balcony in the afternoon, letting the mind wander freely. I’ve explored 33 of China’s 34 provinces, from the 5,700-meter Everest Base Camp to the coastal launch sites where rockets ascend into the sky. Through these journeys, I’ve come to appreciate how Chinese civilisation has harmoniously integrated dozens of ethnic groups over more than five millennia.
I speak authentic Beijing dialect, which can add both depth and flair to your Mandarin learning. I’m excited to share, explore, and help you experience Beijing, a city that is at once ancient and modern. Whether it’s driving down the world’s widest avenue at night, hunting for treasures in narrow hutongs, dining at the foot of 600-year-old palaces, watching the sunset over the old city, or joining the aunties for evening square dancing, I’m certain your time in Beijing will be both fascinating and rewarding.
I live on the tenth floor of a fifteen-storey building. The apartment features three bedrooms, a living room, a dining room, two bathrooms, and a kitchen. Its layout is spacious, and the décor is luxurious. American-style furnishings are paired with Chinese-inspired details, blending Eastern and Western aesthetics. The apartment is also enriched with artworks, including Indian wooden window panels, oil paintings by emerging Chinese artists, sculptures, and elegant tea sets. The guest room is bright, spacious, and comfortable. It includes a 1.2-metre single bed, a generous 2-metre desk, two sizeable six-tier bookcases, and a wardrobe. Both the modern kitchen and bathroom are fully equipped with everything needed for a pleasant and comfortable stay.
