About Me

Hi, I’m Sylvia Cheng from Tainan, Taiwan. I’m a certified junior high school English and computer teacher with 15 years of teaching experience. I’ve recently started teaching Mandarin to foreign learners, and I’m excited to combine language teaching with cultural exchange through a homestay experience. My husband and I are both teachers, and we live with our two children, Emily and Diego in a warm and welcoming home. We love meeting people from around the world and often invite travellers and exchange students to share their cultures with our family and students. These experiences have taught us how meaningful language learning becomes when it’s supported by real-life interaction and friendship.

As your Mandarin teacher and host, I can offer practical Chinese lessons focused on daily communication, cultural insights, and local customs. We can cook Taiwanese dishes together, explore night markets, and even visit nearby historical and natural attractions. Whether you’re a beginner or looking to improve your Chinese in a fun, immersive way, I’ll do my best to support your learning journey. We believe that home is the best place to experience real Taiwanese life, and we’d love to welcome you as part of our family. My home is a charming four-storey villa, located in a peaceful and safe school district. It offers a warm and inviting atmosphere that makes every stay feel like home. On the ground floor, you’ll find a spacious living room and a well-equipped kitchen. There are a master bedroom and a cozy children’s room on the second floor. The third floor features a stylish guest room and a dedicated TV area, offering space to relax and unwind. At the top, the fourth floor serves as a drying area.

The guest room is fully furnished with a double bed, a functional desk, a wardrobe, air-conditioning, electric fan, and a private bathroom—providing both comfort and privacy for an enjoyable stay. Whether you’re here for a short visit or a longer stay, my home’s warm ambiance and convenient amenities make you feel truly welcome.
